I went to see Gravity today in 3D. I first have to say that it was phenomenal. Relating to my Arts Challenge, the film had some incredible special effects, it was unbelievable. The best special effects are those which you can not tell have been done in post production.

I’ve written a little review on the film which I published to IMDb here.

The film has become known for its ground breaking special effects which feel so realistic that astronauts have actuary thanked Alfonso for creating a film that finally depicts the atmosphere in space and how lonely and isolated you can feel. The film had already gone through pre production stages 4 years before the film was released, this is because they had to wait for technology to advance before they could make the film as at the time it just wasn’t possible.

“It’s not a film that could have been made before now.”
David Heyman – Producer

My focus is on the effects in the film despite other elements that add to the film and make it outstanding. In my opinion, when focusing on the special effects, it is the success and realism that no other film has yet achieved as successfully that makes this film such an ‘out of this world’ experience! (excuse the pun).
